On the 15th of August 2022, we removed the Luno exchange from our platform for customers in France. But don’t worry, Luno isn’t going anywhere; you’ll just be buying and selling cryptocurrency using your Wallets screen instead.
If you’ve been enjoying our exchange and actively trading on it, you probably have a few questions about this move. Read on for the answers.
Why did Luno remove the exchange?
We’re always exploring new ways to better serve our customers’ needs in all our markets. Luno is now officially registered to provide our instant buy, sell, and crypto custody offerings in France, which means you can buy, sell and store cryptocurrency with us. However, our French registration doesn’t cover exchange services. We’ve therefore disabled the exchange for customers in France.
This move allows us to put even more focus on giving customers the best experience with our Wallets offering, so we can continue making Luno the easiest and most trustworthy way to invest in cryptocurrency in France.
How do I buy or sell crypto without the exchange?
You can still buy or sell crypto instantly from your Wallets screen.
Tip
If you’ve only been using the exchange, and you’re not familiar with buying or selling from the Wallets screen, check out these Help Centre articles for guidance:
What happens to my open orders on the exchange?
On the 15th of August 2022, exchange features were disabled. This essentially means that you won’t be able to use the exchange to buy or sell crypto with EUR. You’ll be able to view the exchange, but not use the features. Any open orders you may have had on the exchange were cancelled. The funds reserved for those orders were returned to your Luno wallet.
The exchange will be removed and no longer available from the 18th of August 2022.
