How do I make an instant deposit in South Africa?

Our instant transfer deposit option allows you to deposit money directly into your Luno wallet via Stitch in a matter of seconds. All you need is your existing online banking details.

Once you’ve verified your identity, you can deposit money into your ZAR wallet by following these quick and easy steps.

Here's how

Step 1: Link your bank account

  1. Sign in to your Luno app

  2. Navigate to Wallets and open your ZAR wallet

  3. Select DEPOSIT

  4. Choose Instant Transfer

  5. Select your bank (if you can’t find your bank, it’s not supported)

  6. Sign in to your internet banking profile

  7. Choose the bank account you want to deposit with and select Confirm

Note

The recipient name will appear as ‘LPL’ on your bank statement.

You may need to log in to your bank's internet banking website in order to accept the notice or terms and conditions displayed on the site before you can link your account.

Important

When making a deposit with Stitch, be sure to complete the deposit within the Luno app instead of transferring funds directly to the Stitch beneficiary in your banking app. Making EFT deposits straight to Stitch’s bank account will cause a delay in funds being credited to your wallet.

Step 2: Make an instant deposit

  1. In your ZAR wallets and select DEPOSIT

  2. Choose the account you’ve linked

  3. Enter the amount you’d like to deposit and select NEXT

  4. Review the deposit amount and fee, and if you’re happy, select CONFIRM

  5. Enter your Luno PIN

Congratulations! You’ve successfully made an instant deposit.

Note

Some banks may require you to enter an OTP or authorise the payment in your banking app to complete the deposit.
